University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM)
The University of Southampton , a member of the prestigious Russell Group , opened its first international campus in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia in October 2012. This marked a major step in expanding the university’s global influence in education, research, enterprise and knowledge sharing.
Accreditations and diploma
- All programmes at UoSM are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Admission requirements
Foundation (preparation):
- 5 B grades at SPM or IGCSE including maths.
- IELTS from 5.5 (or equivalent).
Bachelor’s degree:
Engineering:
- A*AA–AAB (mathematics, physics).
- 38 points (minimum 6).
- 6.5 (not less than 6.0).
Computer Science:
- A*AA (mathematics).
- 38 (6 in HL math).
- IELTS 6.5.
Business and Economics:
- AAB (incl. mathematics).
- 34 (5 in HL math).
- IELTS 6.5.
Most programs do not require a motivation letter, portfolio, or interview , with the exception of certain Master’s programs.
Documents:
- Completed questionnaire.
- Academic documents (certificate, diploma, certificates).
- Passport, photo, medical certificate.
- IELTS certificate (or alternative).
- Proof of finance (upon request).
- Documents for student visa (EMGS).
Life on and off campus
The student residences are within walking distance from the campus – 5 to 10 minutes walk. This makes living convenient and safe, especially for first-year students. The residences are located in the prestigious Eco Botanic area , known for its safe and well-maintained environment.
Room types and living conditions:
UoSM offers several types of rooms to choose from:
Basic furnished room, shared bathroom, shared kitchen from RM10,000 (~$2,200).
Superior room:
More spacious, with better furnishings and upgraded finishes from RM13,000 (~$2,850).
Apartments / studios:
Private space with en-suite bathroom and kitchenette from RM15,000–18,000 (~$3,300–$4,000).

- Self-service laundry with payment via app.

- The campus is a 5-10 minute walk away.

Booking and payment:
- Places in the hostel can be reserved when applying for study .
- Payment can be made monthly, quarterly or a year in advance .
- It is recommended to book accommodation in advance, especially for the September reception.
