Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) is one of Malaysia’s leading private universities, holding the status of GLC (Government-Linked Company), wholly owned by the largest energy corporation in Southeast Asia – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) . Founded in 1976 and granted university status in 1997, UNITEN has played a key role in training world-class specialists in the fields of energy, engineering and high technology for over 25 years .
The university’s main campus is located in the high-tech corridor of Putrajaya , just 40 kilometers south of Kuala Lumpur. The second campus is located in picturesque Bandar Muadzam Shah in Pahang state.

As part of the country’s largest energy corporation, UNITEN offers unique internship opportunities at TNB Research :
  • Designed for students of engineering and technical fields;
  • Duration: from 3 to 12 months;

Double Degree Programs and International Partnerships
International cooperation with IITU
Joint double degree programs with the International University of Information Technologies (IITU) in Kazakhstan include:

Students can study at both universities and receive two degrees , expanding the boundaries of their academic and professional training.
 
Internal double degrees

  • Bachelor’s degree (IT and Business) – RM66,000 – 78,000 (USD16,500–19,500), duration – 3 years.
  • Master’s degree (by research) – RM16,800 (4,200USD), duration – 2 years.
  • Master’s degree (coursework and research) – RM31,100 (USD7,776), duration – 2 years.
  • Master’s degree (coursework and project) – RM30,300–50,600 (USD7,576–12,652), duration – 2 years.
  • Doctorate (PhD) – RM34,200–36,600 (USD8,550–9,150), duration – 3–4 years.

UNITEN offers a variety of on-campus accommodation options:
Room type:
  • Premium Single with AC – RM670, 150USD.
  • Standard single – RM440, 100USD.
  • Double – RM320–330, 75–80USD.
Note : Accommodation rates vary depending on room type and amenities.
Other expenses:
  • Food : RM 500–700 (~USD 110–155) per month.
  • Transportation : RM 100–200 (~USD 22–44) per month.
  • Personal expenses : RM 200–300 (~USD 44–66) per month.

For all international students:
  • Completed online application : via UNITEN ISOA .
  • Passport size photographs : 4 color photographs.
  • Passport copies : 3 copies of all pages of the current passport.
  • Academic documents : certified copies of certificates, diplomas and transcripts with official translation into English.
  • English language proficiency certificate : IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent.
  • Medical certificate : results of the preliminary medical examination.
  • Invitation Letter : Copy of acceptance letter from UNITEN.
  • Payment receipts : proof of payment of registration and visa fees.
Additionally for Master’s and PhD programs:
  • Letters of recommendation : 2 letters from teachers or employers.
  • Motivation letter : justification for the choice of program and university.
  • Resume (CV) : detailed information about your education and work experience.
  • Portfolio : for programs in the field of design and multimedia.
 
Fees and expenses
Registration and administrative fees:
  • Registration fee : RM 3,000 (~USD 650) – payable upon confirmation of enrollment.
  • EMGS Visa and Administration Fee : RM 3,150 (~USD 787.50) – includes visa and medical insurance.
  • Deposit : RM 300 (~USD 65) – refundable upon completion of training if there are no outstanding debts.
  • Resource fee : RM 780 (~USD 195) per semester – covers library, student activities and services.
 
Student life
UNITEN’s Putrajaya campus is a modern and safe campus with academic buildings, laboratories, a library, a health centre and a café. Students live in comfortable dormitories on campus or rent accommodation off campus.
Student life is active: there are more than 60 clubs of interest – academic, cultural, sports and creative. The campus has a gym, a swimming pool, football pitches and even a horse riding club. UNITEN regularly holds career fairs, hackathons and festivals.
The international community numbers around 10,000 foreign students. The university helps with adaptation, visa, accommodation and offers an English-speaking environment for comfortable learning.
Campus Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah
Located in Pahang, it focuses on humanities and management programs. It is less crowded and is suitable for students looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.

UNITEN provides comfortable and affordable on-campus dormitories :
